Very cute. Great location near Bukchon and situated in a very cute street. Bonus: heated bed + cute traditional hanok li
Overall, very good experience to live like a local in a very traditional house. Very close from Angok station and thus from Bukchon village. There are many things to do and see by walking distance (palaces, bukchon, popular shopping street,...). The street itself is very cute. The inner yard (or court) of the guesthouse is picturesque. Even though the rooms were very basic and were not something you would take a picture of, it is what we expected from hanok experience. Sleeping on a small mattress on the floor was really ok. As a young person, this did not bother me at all and I enjoyed the experience. The floor was even heated and this was very comfortable during winter. The toilets may be for western standards not satisfying. Yet, I found them totally ok for Korean/Asian standards, where it is common to have the shower just above the sink/toilet. It is definitely not as clean as in a 4 stars hotel but it definitely is in line with what I saw across Korea and at my Korean friends’ houses. The owner provided enough towels for the whole stay. When staying at mumum, do not forget to visit the cute museum and library located on the exact same small street. Both are hanok-style houses and are very beautiful: [KakaoMap] 마을서재 11-9, Gyedong 2-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul http://kko.to/DuJBpJejH
Mumum guesthouse is located on a tiny street that is very very hard to find on google maps (as google maps is very inaccurate in Korea overall; google maps doesn’t show the small street where mumum is located; I recommend using “Kakao map” instead). Nevertheless, the owner was waiting for us outside to show us the way. The owner made everything to make the stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast was very basic: toasts, jam, eggs, a fruit, juice, tea or coffee. There would be another fruit everyday. You should tell the owner at what time you would like breakfast and she will prepare it for you. As the owner is alone managing the guesthouse, it was a pleasure to help her wash the dishes after breakfast. I would have appreciated to have more choices of food for breakfast. Especially since we stayed 3 nights, a little bit of variation would have been nice.

What was the highlight of Mumum Guesthouse
Minimalist and atmospheric
Location was amazing. A great area full of atmosphere crossing over old and new Seoul. Breakfast was hand cooked by our host in the same room - simple fare which tasted delicious. Great cafes and restaurants in the street (our favourite in Seoul) outside.
toilet and bathroom was tiny - but actually had everything you need.

Good
Very centrally located and the Hanok village is an interesting neighborhood. The heated floors were wonderful.
Very basic facilities with futons on the floor and bathroom plumbing was marginal. Bathroom not right off the room. Breakfast basic but appreciated.

A traditional Korean hanok! Very well located!
This hanok is located at walking distance to the main royal palaces in South Korea. It is traditional style, heated floor, very charming. Plenty of options for food around for affordable prices.
Room was a bit small for a family of four, still ok though as it was next to the kitchen and we used the kitchen a lot. Toilet was private but not directly accessible from the room, we had to walk through the shared living room to get to the bathroom. Water leaking from the sink in the toilet was a bit annoying.
